Introductory Fall 2026
Introduction to Cybersecurity
An introductory course open to all IUS students, regardless of major. The course will provide a conceptual understanding of cybersecurity and essential technical skills for safe practices in cyberspace. It will integrate EU cybersecurity expertise using the ENISA Threat Landscape Reports and ENISA Basic Cyber Hygiene Best Practices. Students will explore EU cybersecurity frameworks, the EU threat landscape, common threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies while developing the best personal and organisational cybersecurity practices. Students will learn about data protection and cyber hygiene in compliance with EU frameworks. Hands-on labs will offer practical experience in threat landscape investigation, assessing data ownership and privacy risks, implementing secure data backup strategies, and other essential cyber hygiene measures.
The course will be offered in Fall 2026 semester. Full syllabus will be available soon.
Senior Spring 2027
EU Digital Governance and Cybersecurity Policy
A senior-level course designed for students who automatically come into contact with EU studies, and also open to IT engineers who may not be exposed to EU studies but require knowledge of EU regulations and policies to effectively align cybersecurity technological advancements with legal frameworks. Students will explore key EU cybersecurity policies, including the GDPR, NIS2 Directive, and the Cybersecurity Act, while analysing critical infrastructure security, digital content regulation, AI governance, cyber diplomacy, and the geopolitical implications of cybersecurity threats. The course will further explore the role of sustainability in digital transformation, aligning with the EU’s vision for a green and secure digital future. An interdisciplinary approach will be embedded through team-based research assignments where students from diverse academic backgrounds will collaborate to address cybersecurity challenges from technical, legal, and policy perspectives.
